Dortmunder Beer brand refresh

 

BRIEF
Provide a brand refresh for Dortmunder Beer to find a balance between the traditional brewing methods while attracting a growing younger audience. Using the links to the city of Dortmund
and its landmarks.

SOLUTION
Dortmunder has been brewed to German Purity Laws since 1853. The Iconic ‘U’ symbol can still be seen all over the city. This symbol, along with a nod to the famous Borussia Dortmund Football team, became the focus of the new branding. Using a retro feel based on vintage posters and POS provided a good link to the heritage of the product, while using a very simple logo allowed the brand to be strong visually in a saturated market across a busy bar. The social media campaign focussed on using those strong block colours as a visually striking wayof breaking through the more traditional
lifestyle shots.
